Odilon Redon (1840 – 1916) was a French symbolist painter, printmaker, draughtsman and pastellist. He is best known for the dreamlike and somewhat abstract paintings created in the first decade of the 20th century inspired by Japanese art. His work is considered a precursor to Dadaism and Surrealism
