About this website
This website is named after Giorgio Vasari (1511-74) who was an Italian painter, architect and art historian best known for his Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors and Architects, considered the first work of art-historical writing
The idea for setting up a website dedicated to art history arose many years ago, but the project is only realized now (2022), amid the pandemic when quarantine-free travel is not possible
We try to research and share beautiful paintings from around the world (but mostly focusing on Europe and Japan), and make a list of museums to visit when we can fly again
Most of the featured works are from 100~400 years ago; the artists at the time did painstaking research and extensive preparations before creating their final masterpieces
Hopefully we can bring some joy to readers through the beautiful images and interesting stories
