Camille Pissarro

Camille Pissarro (1830-1903) was a Danish-French artist who contributed to both Impressionism and Post-Impressionism. In 1873 he helped establish and became a “pivotal” figure of Société Anonyme des Artistes, Peintres, Sculpteurs et Graveurs which would organize eight annual Impressionist Exhibitions. During 1885-88, he worked with Georges Seurat and Paul Signac on pointillism. He also influenced other young avant-garde painters such as Cézanne, Seurat, Gauguin, and van Gogh
