Félix Ziem

Félix Ziem (1821-1911) was a French painter whose works were first exhibited at the Paris Salon in 1849, and remained a regular exhibitor there for many years. Financially successful, he was known to assist struggling young artists. He was made a Chevalier of the Legion of Honor in 1857 and nominated in 1869 to the judging panel of the 1870 Salon. Ziem’s works entered the Louvre Musuem in 1910, the first time ever for a living artist
